What do you get when you mix LEGO with neon, nostalgia, and a room full of adults reliving the glory days of Tamagotchis and cassette tapes? That’s right—the 90s Adult Night at the LEGO Discovery Center in Springfield, VA.
Two of our members staffed a NOVA-LUG table at the event, showcasing some of their favorite MOCs and chatting with guests about the club. Many visitors were surprised to learn that there’s a whole adult LEGO community in Northern Virginia, and some even left with info on how to join. Meanwhile, other LUG members came just to soak in the vibe and laugh about the fact that yes, the 90s really were that long ago.
It was a lighter event for us, but that’s part of what made it fun. Sometimes the best outreach happens in casual settings—with people who know LEGO isn’t just for kids, and that their own inner builder still has plenty to say. Plus, we’ll never complain about an excuse to build and jamming to 90s hits at the same time.
