When the Claude Moore Recreation Center asked us to return for Virginia’s official “Play All Day,” NOVA-LUG knew exactly how to celebrate. Five of our members brought displays to Claude Moore Recreation Center and spent the day showing off what LEGO can do. But the real star of the event was something brand-new for our club: the play brick.

For the first time, we set out a huge pile of bricks and invited kids to dive in. The result? Pure joy. Within minutes, the tables were covered with colorful creations—spaceships, houses, animals, you name it. Some kids proudly brought their builds over to show us, while others happily collaborated with new friends they’d just met.

Our displays drew plenty of attention, but the play brick reminded us that sometimes the best way to connect with people is to hand them a brick and let their imagination take over. We left the event tired but energized, knowing we’d tapped into the true spirit of play.
