The energy at Claude Moore Recreation Center was electric for the 2024 Battle of the Bricks—and NOVA-LUG was there to spark even more imagination. While the main event had kids competing in timed build challenges, our display area was set up as a hub of inspiration.
Nine of our members brought an eclectic mix of creations to show just how far those little bricks can go. From intricate micropolis cityscapes to a mesmerizing Great Ball Contraption (GBC) demo, there was regularly a crowd gathered to watch. Families stopped to admire the interactive dog park build, while fans of fantasy were drawn in by a whimsical MOC inspired by the newly released Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie.
But the real joy was in the conversations. Our members loved hearing from kids about their own creations, fielding “how’d you build that?” questions, and encouraging the next generation of builders. Events like this remind us that LEGO isn’t just about putting bricks together—it’s about unlocking creativity.
